wemp - Web Media Player

wemp is the most advanced media player for audio / video content from the public web which runs on Apple TV.

A companion iOS /Mac App and Safari Action Extension make it easy to navigate to the content. Once you start playing audio or video, the Apple TV App takes over. In contrast to AirPlay there is no need to keep the iOS App running.

An iOS device or a Mac is not required. There is also a web interface which allows control from any modern Webbrowser (Safari, Firefox, or Chrome recommended). You can start an audio / a video by using a bookmarklet from your Desktop.

wemp is the first video player on the Apple TV which can play at different speed rates from 0.1x to 2.0x.

The iOS companion app is included in the purchase. If you purchase wemp on the Apple TV you can download the companion app for free on iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch using the same App Store account and vice versa.

The Mac companion app can be downloaded for free.

The most convenient way to control wemp is to use the companion App 'wemp Remote' and it's Safari Action extension for iOS or their OS X counterparts.

Browse the web in Safari as usual. When you come across any media you want on your TV just launch the ‘Play Media On TV’ action and start to play. wemp will play the audio / video directly on your Apple TV - independent from the iOS device.

API

wemp has an remote control API based on HTTP and WebSockets. This enables third parties to build alternative web-interfaces and apps. The 'wemp Remote' iOS app, the 'wemp Remote X' OS X app, and the built-in web-interface are all using this public API to communicate with 'wemp' on the Apple TV.

Third Party Libraries

The following CocoaPods are used to build the apps:
